FAQ: Your Dental Insurance Guide

Do you accept my dental insurance?

Yes, we do accept all kind of dental plans including private plans like Sunlife, Manulife, Great West Life, Empire Life along side with government dental plans including Halton Ontario Works, dental plan, Healthy Smiles Oakville (HSO) and Halton Dental Care Counts.

Do you accept direct billing if I have insurance?

At Bronte Road Family Dental we directly bill your insurance company, which means that the dental office submits the primary and secondary insurance claims on behalf of the patients and requests their insurance company to pay the dental office directly.  Any outstanding balance has to be covered by the patient at the day of the treatment.

What does co-payment mean? and do I have to pay deductibles and co-payments?

It all depends on your plan. Some plans have 100% coverage and others have as low as 50% coverage. The coverage and limitations are set by the contract between your employer (plan holder) and the insurance company. All dental offices in Ontario must collect the co-payments as long as they accept the insurance. Waiving of a co-payment is insurance fraud and is against the law. We will be able to provide you with the breakdown of your insurance benefits and the limitations. You also will be informed about the estimated payment if any before the beginning of the procedure. For example, If your insurance covers 90% for xrays. If the charge per xray is $28, then expect a charge of $2.8 if xray is done.

Do accept electronic billing

We send claims electronically, which speeds up the claim submission and the communications between the office and insurance companies.

What are my dental insurance benefits?

At your first appointment, we will contact your insurance provider on your behalf to inquire information about your plan’s dental benefits.

Do you provide treatment estimates?

We’ll send a treatment estimate to your insurance company for major dental work cases. All financial arrangements are fully clarified prior to your appointment, so there are never any hidden costs.

Hand-to-hand insurance plan explanation

At your first appointment, we can contact the insurance company on your behalf to inquire about type of benefits in your insurance plan. However, some insurance companies have privacy policies and refuse to share information with the dental offices regarding the benefits of the plan. Therefore, we recommend our patients to call their insurance company and inquire about the following:

  • Name of insurance carrier and phone number
  • Anniversary date of the policy
  • Annual maximum
  • The annual fee guide covered
  • Percentage coverage for diagnostics, preventive, filling and major work such as crowns.
  • Annual deductibles

We can explain the information about your insurance policy and answer all questions you have. Please call us for any questions regarding your insurance company at 9054650026
